Anybody have tips for focusing manually?

I'd really like to get better at focusing manually, especially when I use my Contax. But I feel soooo slow! I especially have a hard time when my subjects are moving (walking toward or away from me). Is it just one of those skills that you have to keep practicing at and gradually you get better? Or if you have some magic trick to share, I'm all ears!

keep practicing alot... learn to make refined movements... and if you don't have one already, get a split focusing screen... makes it really clear when you're in focus
